BEST-SELLING AUTHOR DAVID BALDACCI TO SPEAK AT 25TH ANNUAL ‘LOVE OF LITERACY’ LUNCHEON

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla., Dec. 10, 2015 – One of the country ’s best-selling authors is helping the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County mark a major milestone. Novelist David Baldacci will speak at the Coalition’s ‘Love of Literacy’ luncheon on March 10, 2016. The Coalition is celebrating 25 years of promoting and achieving literacy in Palm Beach County.

A lifelong Virginian and former D.C. lawyer, Baldacci has published 30 adult novels. Most of his works are legal/political suspense thrillers. Baldacci’s first novel – Absolute Power – was made into a major motion picture directed by Clint Eastwood, who also starred in the film. Baldacci’s novels have been national and international bestsellers, and several have been adapted for film and television. Baldacci has also published five novels for younger readers, including the #1 bestseller The Finisher, which is in development for a feature film, and its #1 bestselling sequel, The Keeper.

Recognizing that the ability to read is the foundation for everyday life, Baldacci and his wife, Michelle, founded the Wish You Well Foundation. The Foundation supports family literacy in the United States by fostering and promoting the development and expansion of new and existing literacy and educational programs.

“We are thrilled to have David Baldacci as our featured speaker for the ‘Love of Literacy’ luncheon,“ said Kristin Calder, CEO of the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County. “He’s not just a great writer with a huge following, he also shares our mission in improving the quality of life for families by promoting and achieving literacy. He is a perfect fit for the celebration of our 25th anniversary.”

The March 10 luncheon starts at 11 :30 a.m. at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach. Delray Beach resident and Literacy Coalition board member Bettina Young is chairing the event.

About the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County

For 25 years the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County has worked to improve the quality of life in our community by promoting and achieving literacy. One in seven adults in our county is unable to read and understand information found in books, newspapers and manuals and nearly half of all third graders are not reading on grade level. Through extensive outreach and collaboration with a network of community partners, the Literacy Coalition strives to ensure that individuals who need to improve their literacy skills receive the help they need. By providing

services to more than 27,000 adults, children and families each year, the Literacy Coalition’s goal is for every child and every adult in Palm Beach County to be able to read.
