Admiral’s Cove Cares Charitable Foundation Awards Grant to Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County

(Jupiter, FL --) The Admiral’s Cove Cares Charitable Foundation (ACCCF) recently hosted a tea to distribute nearly $400,000 in grants to 32 local charities.

Recipients included the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County.  Joan Williams and Darlene Kostrub attended the event to accept the grant award.

Literary Coalition of Palm Beach County’s mission is to improve the quality of life in our community by promoting and achieving literacy.  In 2009, they reached more than 30,000 adults and children.  Their Reach Out and Read program prepares America’s youngest children to succeed by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together. Medical professionals incorporate the program into regular pediatric checkups by advising parents about the importance of reading aloud and giving developmentally appropriate books to children. They help 28,000 families per year.  The ACCCF grant will provide funds for 10 local sites that would purchase about 330 books per site.

The Foundation raises funds every two years with a Charity Weekend extravaganza.  The 2011 Charity Weekend was chaired by Admiral’s Cove residents and Foundation board members Beth Beson and Dale Abrahams.  More than 615 residents and their families enjoyed an array of exciting weekend-long events, including a walk, golf tournament, tennis round robins, croquet tournament, children’s events, a casino night with a Texas hold’em, boat tour and closing barbeque.

In 2005 and 2007, the Foundation’s Charity Weekend raised a combined total of more than $730,000, which it awarded to charities in Jupiter, Palm Beach County and within the state of Florida. In 2009, Admiral’s Cove Cares Charitable Foundation raised $350,000 from its biennial Charity Weekend. Grants were distributed among the 23 benefiting organizations and charities
