Read for the Record
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County Celebrates The Snowy Day
This early literacy initiative is coordinated nationally by Jumpstart’s Read for the Record and locally by the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County in partnership with the Children’s Services Council, PNC, Family Central, WXEL and The Palm Beach Post. It’s part of a national effort to break a world record of the most adults reading the same book to the most children on the same day across the country.
In addition, the PNC Foundation awarded the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County a $3,200 grant to assist the Coalition’s early literacy program in Palm Beach County. The grant was made in support of PNC Grow Up Great, a 10-year, $100 million bilingual initiative to help prepare children from birth to age 5 for success in school and life.
Preschool children from local child care centers will gather to hear celebrity readers including Craig Grant, PNC Regional President, Leslie Streeter, The Palm Beach Post; Stephen Holt, WPBF 25 News and John Favole and Tania Rogers from WPTV News Channel 5. The preschoolers will also be treated to an ice skating show as well as snow cones.
