Would you like to help a child improve their reading skills?
Become a trained volunteer tutor with the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County!
Classroom Tutoring
Tutor first and/or second grade children, one-to-one, in reading at selected elementary schools throughout Palm Beach County during school hours. Tutor two 90 minute sessions a week (or team up with another volunteer, each tutoring one or two sessions per week).
After School Tutoring
Commit to tutor a child, one-to-one, in reading comprehension at the Literacy Coalition’s Blume Literacy Center after school. Tutor for one hour, one day a week. Background check is required.

Register for the January 11 & 12, 2017 training

This is a two-part training – attendance is required at both sessions.
This course is designed to prepare volunteers to work with adult literacy students. Upon completion of the course, tutors will be referred to community agencies and matched with individuals seeking assistance. Volunteers will tutor adults one-to-one. Tutoring sessions are usually once or twice a week for two hours. The sessions are held in public places, such as schools or libraries.
