Making a Difference

One of my adult students in the Glades Family Education Program had been absent for two weeks due to a health problem. When she came back to class, she started to talk to me, but was soon crying. She said that she had been to see three different medical specialists and was so amazed to realize that she could understand what they were saying to her. Prior to coming to class, she would not have been able to communicate with them. She said that she had come to school eager to learn and was now seeing the results. She was so grateful that she could finally speak for herself.
