Since 1989, the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County has been committed to promoting and achieving literacy. We remain dedicated to helping children, adults and families learn to read and provide services to 55,967 people each year.

The luncheon, co-chaired by Telsula C. Morgan and Lindsay Reinhart, funds programs provided by the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County. These programs provide literacy skills to children, adults and families to help them succeed in school and in life. The Coalition’s goal is to ensure every adult and child in Palm Beach County can read.

“We are thrilled to celebrate literacy with many business and community leaders in the county at this inspiring event,” said Kristin Calder, Literacy Coalition CEO. “There is a great literacy need with adults and children in our community, and support from all who attend goes a long way to helping the Literacy Coalition provide and support life-changing literacy programs.”

Thank you to our supporters and volunteers who joined us on March 9, 2023, at the Literacy Coalition’s 32nd Love of Literacy Luncheon presented by Bank of America featuring bestselling author Paula McLain. It was an inspiring and exciting day In celebration of literacy. The Luncheon is the Coalition’s signature event to raise awareness of our county’s significant literacy needs and provide crucial money to support literacy programs from Jupiter to Boca Raton and west to Belle Glade.

Considered a star of historical fiction, Paula McLain is best known for her acclaimed novels The Paris Wife, Circling the Sun and Love and Ruin. The Paris Wife captures an extraordinary love affair in the 1920s between Ernest Hemingway and his wife Hadley Richardson. Love and Ruin brings to life the story of war correspondent Martha Gellhorn who falls in love with Hemingway while covering the Spanish Civil War. Circling the Sun focuses on Beryl Markham, a record-setting aviator caught up in a love triangle with safari hunter Denys Finch Hatton and Karen Blixen, author of the classic memoir Out of Africa. McLain’s latest instant bestseller, When the Stars Go Dark, is a suspense novel that weaves together actual cases of missing persons, trauma theory and a hint of the metaphysical.
