SUMMARY:Love of Literacy Luncheon
DESCRIPTION:Thank you to our supporters and volunteers who joined us on April 11\, 2024\, at the Literacy Coalition’s 33rd Love of Literacy Luncheon presented by Bank of America featuring New York Times bestselling and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Geraldine Brooks. It was an inspiring and exciting day in celebration of literacy. The Luncheon is the Coalition’s signature event to raise awareness of our county’s significant literacy needs and provide crucial money to support literacy programs from Jupiter to Boca Raton and west to Belle Glade. \nKnown for her impeccably researched historical novels\, Australian-born author Geraldine Brooks won the Pulitzer Prize in fiction in 2006 for her novel March. Her novels People of the Book\, Caleb’s Crossing and The Secret Chord all were New York Times bestsellers. Her first novel\, Year of Wonders\, is an international bestseller\, translated into more than 25 languages and currently optioned for a limited series by acclaimed actress Olivia Coleman’s production company. Prior to writing novels\, Brooks was a journalist at The Sydney Morning Herald and The Wall Street Journal.
