Book Donations and Book Drives for the Literacy Coalition
To Support Our Children’s Literacy Programs
Many children and students served by our literacy programs may not have appropriate books to read in their homes. The Coalition’s goal is to provide them with quality children’s books to practice reading at home, helping them improve their literacy skills and develop a love of reading, books, and learning.
You can help by organizing a book drive or donating new and gently used books in excellent condition for preschool-age children and elementary-grade-level students served by the Literacy Coalition’s programs.

Helpful tips for donating new and used books
We accept books in excellent condition for preschool-age children and elementary grade-level students served by the Literacy Coalition’s programs.
For preschool-age children, board and picture books are excellent choices.
Examples of board and picture book titles for preschool-age children:
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Goodnight Gorilla, Llama Llama Red Pajama, Pete the Cat and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
For elementary school-age children leveled books often provide the best texts for teaching reading, as the vocabulary and sentence complexity is consistent throughout the book.

All Aboard Reading, DK Readers, I Can Read, I’m Going to Read, National Geographic Kids, Puffin Easy to Read, Ready to Read, Step Into Reading and Scholastic Reader.
