Literacy Coalition Earns Coveted 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator for 10th Consecutive Year

Boynton Nonprofit Outperforms Most in America

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla., Aug. 7, 2018 – This has been a year of milestones for the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County. In June, we celebrated the 5th anniversary of the Blume Literacy Center on the Brenda and C.P. Medore Campus in Boynton Beach. Now we’ve been awarded a 4-out-of-4 star rating from Charity Navigator for the 10th consecutive year! Only 1% of the charities Charity Navigator evaluates has received at least 10 consecutive 4-star evaluations, meaning the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County outperforms most other charities in America.

Charity Navigator is the leading charity evaluator in America. Its ratings are equal to an Oscar in the nonprofit sector. Charity Navigator’s rigorous rating system examines a charity’s financial health and accountability and transparency. The company provides these ratings so that donors can make giving decisions with greater confidence. The rating system shows givers:

  • How efficiently a charity uses givers’ support
  • How well a charity sustains its programs and services
  • A charity’s commitment to good governance, best practices and openness with information
  • A charity’s trustworthiness

We are proud to be among an elite group of nonprofits across the country to achieve 10 consecutive 4-out-of 4 star ratings from Charity Navigator,“ said Kristin Calder, Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County CEO. “This exceptional designation assures donors of our financial efficiency, integrity and transparency.”

Charity Navigator data shows that users of the site donated more than they planned to before viewing the evaluator’s findings. In fact, it is estimated that last year, Charity Navigator influenced approximately $10 billion in charitable gifts.

By providing services to more than 27,000 adults, children and families each year, the Literacy Coalition’s goal is for every child and every adult in Palm Beach County to be able to read.
