12th Annual LOOP for Literacy Raises $75,000
Funds to Benefit Programs That Help Local Children and Adults Succeed in Life
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla., Feb. 24, 2022 – More than 400 cyclists, runners and walkers and 200+ donors and sponsors supported the 12th Annual Loop for Literacy. The fundraiser offered an in-person event on February 12 at Bryant Park in Lake Worth and a virtual component from February 1 – 12. The Loop Your Way virtual option allowed participants to bike, walk or run at the time and place of their choice.
The top 3 finishers in the men’s 5K run were:
- 1st – Max Arthay of Palm Beach Gardens, with a time of 19:03
- 2nd – Spencer Williams of Lake Worth, with a time of 23:54
- 3rd – Andrew Kwan of Lake Worth, with a time of 24:05
The 3 winners in the women’s 5K run were:
- Emily Abbott of Lake Worth, with a time of 23:17
- Ulrike Vernachio of Lake Worth, with a time of 23:47
- Melody Raynaud of West Palm Beach, with a time of 24:24
The first cyclist to cross the finish line in the 24-mile roadside bike ride was Tom Giuffrida of West Palm Beach.
A.J. Bianco of Delray Beach and Finn Roche of Boca Raton tied in the Kids 1-Mile Fun Run.
Sydney Ray of Boca Raton won the Kids 100-Yard Dash.
Literacy Coalition Board Members Joe Grant of Boca Raton and Andy Loewenstein of Palm Beach Gardens co-chaired the benefit.
