Literacy Links Golf Tournament to Tee Off April 14
Fundraiser to Benefit Families Served by the Literacy Coalition of PBC
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla., April 3, 2023 – Golfers are invited to tee up to support literacy programs and efforts for adults and children in Palm Beach County. The 7th Annual Literacy Links Golf Tournament is set for April 14, 2023, at the Palm Beach Par 3.
A foursome is $800; an individual slot is $225. The entry fee includes awards and lunch at al Fresco Restaurant in the Palm Beach Par 3 clubhouse. Check-in starts at 7:30 a.m. A shotgun start follows at 8:30. The format is a scramble. Literacy Coalition board member Nancy Vera of Delray Beach is chairing the tournament. Committee members include Caleb Bowser of Riviera Beach, John Campo of West Palm Beach and Travis Foels of Jupiter.

Nearly half of all third graders in Palm Beach County are not reading on grade level, while 22% of adults over 16 lack basic literacy skills. This fundraiser will provide children and adults in need with links to literacy programs that will help them succeed in school and life.

A recipient of the coveted 4-star Charity Navigator rating for 13 consecutive years, the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County works to improve the quality of life in our community by promoting and achieving literacy. In Palm Beach County, 22% of adults age 16 and older lack basic literacy skills and cannot fill out a job application or read a bus schedule and nearly half of all third graders are not reading on grade level. Through extensive outreach and collaboration with a network of community partners, the Literacy Coalition strives to ensure that individuals who need to improve their literacy skills receive the help they need. By providing services to 49,876 adults, children and families each year through nine programs at 159 sites, the Literacy Coalition’s goal is for every child and every adult in Palm Beach County to be able to read.
