Welcome to the Literacy Coalition

ENCEPHALON - That was the word the Duffy's Sports Grill All-Stars spelled to win the Literacy Coalition’s 24th Annual Great Grown-Up Spelling Bee last night at the Harriet Himmel Theater at CityPlace. Sponsored by Legal You and emceed by Jon Shainman of WPTVNewschannel 5, it was a fun night as nearly 20 teams of 3 competed in the spell-off. After 22 rounds three teams remained: Duffy's Sports Grill All-Stars, Palm Beach State College (finished 2nd) and NextEra Energy (finished 3rd). Teams from WPBF 25 News and Lynn University rounded out the top five. Additional awards for cheering and team spirit went to Lewis Longman & Walker PA, Legal You, Friends of the Palm Beach County Library System and NextEra Energy. A special thanks to our additional sponsors including Publix Super Markets Charities, Duffy’s and Park Avenue BBQ & Grille, our own Buzzby Book Bee Ken Montgomery and Bee Co-Chairmen Rob Gingras and Ginny Neal. Proceeds from the Bee benefit the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County.
