WELCOME TO THE LITERACY COALITION OF PALM BEACH COUNTY
We have an exciting fall planned with activities to engage everyone interested in literacy. On September 8, we will be celebrating International Literacy Day. Look for a special literacy page in The Palm Beach Post that Day! One September 15, we will be hosting a Mayors’ Literacy Luncheon in Palm Beach County at the Ritz-Carlton through the support of Comcast and in partnership with the Palm Beach County League of Cities. On September 16, corporate teams from all over the county will be competing in the Great Grown-Up Spelling Bee at the Harriet Himmel Theater at CityPlace. Register your team of three now or purchase and Alphabet Letter. Even if you don’t have a team, plan to attend and cheer on local folks having a great time raising awareness funds for literacy. On October 7, join adults all over the county reading The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats to preschool children in child care centers. Call (800) 273-1030 to read at a local center. Then on October 22, the Literacy Coalition will sponsor a Literacy Expo at the Airport Hilton. The public is welcome to come and view displays of local providers who serve children, youth, adults and families. And you are always encouraged to become and adult literacy tutor. A training day for potential tutors is planned for July 31.
